THE PENTAGON is the headquarters of the AMERICAN defense department.It is located in ARLINGTON COUNTY,VIRGINIA.It was designed by American architect  George Bergstrom and built by John Mcshain of Philadelfia.It is a large office building which has five sides,five floors above ground,five ring corridors per floor.It includes a five acre central plaza which is shaped like a pentagon and popularly known as GROUND ZERO.This building was dedicated on 15th day of January,1943.

On September 11,2001 AMERICAN AIRLINES FLIGHT 77 was hijacked and flown into the western side of building,killing 189 people.
